Christopher Ford, PT, MPT

Chris Ford, PT, MPT founded ABC on April 1st, 2001. He graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 1995 with a Masters of Physical Therapy. His specialty is back pain, neck pain and migraines. He has developed an extremely accurate alignment technique for the spine called the “Leveling Technique.” He has been in several articles in “Advance for Physical Therapy and Rehab Medicine,” featuring his unique plan of care. Chris’ goal is to teach the “Leveling Technique.” and his philosophy of care around the globe. He is a member of APTA, PTWA, Tacoma Executive Association, ToastMasters, Tacoma Pierce County Chamber of Commerce, Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce and a former member of Tacoma Rotary 8.

Chris is proud of the fact that our clinic gives relief to patients who haven’t had results anywhere else. The ability to positively change people’s lives for the better is the biggest motivator. Chris lives in University Place with his wife Carole. He has two daughters, Jordan and Tara.

Dustin Hendricks, PT, DPT

Dustin Hendricks PT, DPT earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University or New England in Maine and his Bachelors of Science from Cleveland State University in Ohio. His clinical rotations took him all over the country allowing him to get exposure to a wide variety of diagnoses and treatment styles, shaping his approach to physical therapy. He enjoys getting to know his patients and their goals inside and out of the clinic to promote long-term success. Dustin’s treatment philosophy involves addressing both the physical and emotional aspects of health. He believes this is the best way to get you back to doing the things you enjoy most. Dustin is passionate about helping others and would take pride in helping you today!

Aaron Latimer PT, DPT

Aaron Latimer PT, DPT earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the Arizona School of Health Sciences in 2008 and his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Eastern Washington University in 2005. His clinical experience includes outpatient Physical Therapy with the Spine Team in Spokane and Aaron served as a Physical Therapist in the US Navy. While in the Navy, Aaron had exposure to a wide variety of diagnoses and treatment styles at the Naval Hospitals in Portsmouth and Bremerton and while serving aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. He was also the Tactical Athlete Sports Medicine Manager with SEAL Delivery Vehicle TEAM ONE in Pearl City, Hawaii. He decided to join Alternative Back Care because he was eager to learn the “Leveling Technique” and apply it to patents to improve their quality of life. Aaron’s treatment philosophy is a simple one…”If it is supposed to move and doesn’t, move it” and “If it’s not strong enough, strengthen it.” He believes this is the best way to reduce pain and to get you back to doing the things you enjoy most.

Tami Roehr, PT, MPT, DPT

Tami Roehr, PT, MPT, DPT, is a doctor of physical therapy with over 26 years of vast experiences. Tami has a Masters and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the US Army-Baylor University Graduate Program in Physical Therapy and the US Army-Baylor University Transitional Doctorate Program in Physical Therapy. She says she was born to be a PT, for her it is fun to be able to help people feel better and add quality to life. Her patients says she has magic hands!

Tami lives in Gig Harbor with her son and cat. She is an Air Force brat, have lived all over the world, and is an Army veteran. She went to grade school and high school in University Place and her undergrad degree is from WSU. In her time off work she loves to be with her family.

 

Karl Albert, PTA

Karl is a Tacoma native, born and raised, who loves his hometown. He has attended the University of Washington, College of Forest Resources and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1981 and is a recent graduate of Green River Community College: Associates in Applied Science in 2014.

Helping his patients become pain free and able to return to their normal activities is what brings him joy and purpose to his job as a PTA here at ABC Physical Therapy. He is a firm believer in the full circle approach to resolving back pain that we utilize here at ABC Physical Therapy. Once he aligns a patient, seeing how dramatically their back pain is relieved and posture improved keeps him enthralled in the work that he does. In addition to our specialties, Karl has completed continuing education on comprehensive knee rehabilitation.

 

Karina Bayaua, PTA

Karina is a recent graduate of Olympic College Physical Therapy Assistant program. She is driven by results, and it motivates and excites her to see patients achieve their goals. She enjoys working at ABC PT for the team approach when it comes to treating each patient and seeing their reactions when they achieve a state of pain relief. She enjoy teaching patients how to achieve and maintain a pain-free lifestyle that allows them to get back to doing what they love. Since starting in August 2017, she has grown more knowledgeable in the different techniques ABC has to offer and look forward to continuing my education in manual therapy and neurological treatment concepts, such as NDT for stroke patients.

Karina was born in the Philippines and has lived in Washington since 2004. In her down time, she enjoys journaling, swimming, trying out new recipes and browsing the bookstore.

 

Shannon Garrett, PTA

Shannon Garrett, PTA, graduated from the Physical Therapist Assistant program in 2011 with an Associates in Applied Science.  Since graduating she has had many opportunities to work in multiple physical therapy settings.  She spent several years in an out patient setting  working with a multitude of injuries and people of all ages.  Along with that she was spending a couple days a week doing home health care where she found that she also really loved working with the geriatric population and developing her skills as a well rounded therapist. She then took a job as a civilian contractor for the Army working on a study focusing on multidisciplinary treatment for rehabilitation of active duty soldiers with chronic pain. She found her job there very rewarding.  When that contract ended it brought her here, to ABC physical therapy where she is very excited to join this team and embrace a new innovative approach to reducing peoples back pain. 

Shannon is a proud mother of two grown kids and had her first granddaughter in January 2018.  She enjoys being active with yoga, backpacking and being outside as much as possible.

 

Melissa McFarland, PTA

Melissa McFarland, PTA is a graduate of Green River Colleges’ Physical Therapist Assistant program. She graduated in June 2019, became licensed in July and joined the team of Alternative Back Care Physical Therapy in August. Melissa has always been dedicated to her patients and is passionate about creating a fun, yet calm, healing environment in which she can assist her patients achieve optimal function.

In her free time, Melissa enjoys hiking and spending quality time with her family and friends.

 

Jessica Rice, PTA

Jessica Rice, PTA, graduated in 2017 from Olympic College in Bremerton, WA. She wanted to become a PTA because of her fascination with the amazing healing power of the human body. Since then she has enjoyed being an active member in my profession, first as a Student Liaison to the PTWA from 2016-2017 and now as the Vice Chair of the PTWA Peninsula District. She loves being a part of a great team of professionals at ABC and developing her manual treatment techniques that bring so much relief to the patients she works with. The chemistry we have in the clinic is unique, everyone gets along so well. It is great to have such a fun place to work!

Jessica is part of a very active family that loves to go hiking, playing tennis and swimming together. She has an amazing supportive husband and two incredibly hilarious kiddos.

Jeremy Kowalski, PTA

Jeremy Kowalski, PTA, earned his associates degree in applied science from Pima Medical Institute in Denver, Colorado and his Bachelors of Science from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Originally from Colorado, Jeremy grew up with a passion for body mechanics and the body’s capabilities through martial arts. This, coupled with his natural compassion for others, made physical therapy a perfect fit. Jeremy enjoys seeing his patients make progress on their road to recovery. He is dedicated to his craft, expanding his knowledge and enhancing his skills in order to provide ABC Physical Therapy clients with the highest quality of care possible.

Jeremy and his family moved from Westminster, Colorado to Gig Harbor in October 2019. Jeremy, his wife and daughter look forward to having new adventures in their new home state.

 

Jacyln Alexander, PTA

Jacyln Alexander, PTA, is a recent graduate of Kent State University where she earned her Associates of Applied Science. She previously graduated from Ohio State University with her Bachelors of Arts in 2010. Originally from Ohio, she recently moved with her husband to Washington and is excited to pursue her career in Physical Therapy. Jaclyn has a passion for helping others achieve their personal and functional goals so they may participate in activities which mean the most to them. Her interests include hiking and running while exploring the beautiful areas of Washington. She is thrilled to be a part of the ABC PT Family and looks forward to helping those in the community achieve their health goals.

 

Darrius Tuggle, PTA

Darrius Tuggle, PTA graduated from Western Washington University in 2007 with B.S. in Exercise Science. He then attended and graduated from Green River College Physical Therapy Assistant program with an Associates degree in 2017.
Darrius’ prior experiences as an assistant high school football coach, social services, personal trainer and past athletic injuries led him to pursue physical therapy. He enjoy the daily challenge of meeting each individual client’s needs as a PTA. He enjoys learning new therapeutic techniques and skills from everyone here at ABC. Darrius enjoys traveling, sports, trying new restaurants and spending time with his family.

 

John Casebere, LMP

Heather Wilson, LMT, went to Alexandar School of Natural Therapeutics and fully graduated fCertified Zen Bodytherapy® Practitioner, Certified Zen Triggerpoint® Practitioner, Advanced Zentherapy Practitioner®, Advanced B.E.S.T.® Practitioner
John began his massage career in Fircrest, Washington as a partner in Evergreen Holistic Practitioners. He graduated from Alexandar School of Natural Therapeutics and has further training with The Upledger Institute in CranioSacral® Therapy, and The St. Johns Institute for Neuromuscular Therapy. John is also certified as an advanced B.E.S.T. practitioner by Dr. Ted Morter, Jr. in Bio Energenic Syncronization Technique and the International Zentherapy Institute, Inc., in deep body work and has been training in deep body work with William “Dub” Leigh and Bill Thompson since 1997.

John is certified in both Zen Bodytherapy®, Zen Triggerpoint Anatomy and Advanced Zen Bodytherapy®. John teaches Anatomy and Kinesiology, Clinical Treatment, Documentation and Practice Management at Alexandar School of Natural Therapeutics, Inc.

Claire Yuckert, LMP

Claire is a Tacoma native and graduate of Evergreen State College with her BFA in Film and Literature. She worked in the non-profit arts community for over 15 years at the Museum of Glass, Tacoma Opera, and Arizona Opera.

Following her love of service and dedication to people, she made the career change from non-profit work to the health industry by attending Arizona School of Massage Therapy this past year.  Ms. Yuckert graduated with a 4.0 GPA, perfect attendance, and worked with five patients in clinic every weekend, consistently for 21 weeks. Some of her favorite modalities include Injury Rehabilitation, Russian Sports Massage, Structural Integration and Eastern Modalities of Shiatsu and Acupressure.

Claire migrated north after graduation with her husband and started working at ABC in June 2016. She is excited to help facilitate healing for patients who are in pain. In her free time, Ms. Yuckert works as a personal chef for many clients, spends time outdoors with her husband and daughter camping in the Half Pint Caravan, and continues to volunteer her time to the arts community in the South Sound.

Heather Wilson, LMT

Heather Wilson, LMT, went to Alexandar School of Natural Therapeutics and fully graduated from that program during the fall of 2019. Her style of massage is focused more on relaxation while also providing relief from serious ailments with the use of deep tissue techniques. She also has an interest in Sports Massage. In her downtime Heather enjoys long walks – enjoying the scenery Tacoma and surrounding areas has to offer. She has two cats – Alexa and Sophia – and plans to get involved with working with animals and animal massage.

Shelby Alexander, LMP

Shelby graduated from Alexandar School of Natural Therapeutics in February of 2013. She integrates both deep tissue, myofascial release and relaxation Swedish massage to relax clients and aid in their healing process. She chose to pursue a career in massage therapy because she believes strongly that massage therapy will change the world.

Shelby is from Gig Harbor, WA and moved to Tacoma in 2011 after graduating from Tacoma School of the Arts. She also teaches many styles of dance to all ages at a studio in Parkland, co-owns Sunrise Organic Blueberry Farm and works at Central Co-Op in Tacoma as Fresh Manager.

Isharrah Carter, LMT

Isharrah Carter, LMT, graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 2017 with her Bachelors degree in Psychology and recently graduated top of her class from Altierus Career College in Tacoma, WA with a 4.0 and 60 clinical hours of experience. Her technique focuses on using the energy of healing touch while incorporating aspects of deep pressure with long flowing motions. Leigh Simons, LMP, stated in her letter of recommendation for Isharrah that “From the moment she contacted my body one thing became crystal clear to me: she is built for this career! She has the gift of massage coursing through her veins; her stroke variety, ability to hold consistent pressure, client communication and flow were that of a 10 year professional!”

Isharrah hopes to make a positive impact on her clients by improving their quality of life through the reduction of their daily pain level and stress levels.

Jordan Ford Armentrout

Jordan Ford Armentrout starting her current position as Business Operations Manager for ABC PT in October 2009. She enjoys working with our talented and positive team of staff members who continuously improve our patients’ lives. She is a graduate from Seattle University in 2008 with a double major in Communications and Fine Art Photography. She was awarded the Business Examiner’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2011. She is proud to be a part of an organization that provides such innovative techniques and exceptional patient care.

Jordan grew up in Tacoma and enjoys being a part of this community. She is Past President of Tacoma Executive Association, Former President Elect of Young Professionals Network, member of Tacoma Pierce County Chamber of Commerce, and co-founder and former President of CASTINGS: Communities Actively Strengthening Tacoma In Neighborhood Gardens and Schools. In her free time she enjoys photography, traveling and spending time in her Tacoma home with her husband Sean and their dog, Deacon.

Melaney Hamby

Melaney has been with ABC Physical Therapy since 2002. She is our Medical Biller and Manager. Melaney is a part of numerous organizations outside of ABC. She was awarded the Business Examiner’s Top 40 Under 40 award in 2017. She is a member of Toastmasters International, Chamber of Commerce, The Tacoma Elks and a member of the Puget Sound Victory Riders. Melaney enjoys spending time with her family, riding her motorcycle and traveling around the world. Melaney is an avid couponer who loves to share her successes with others by teaching them how to do the same. Melaney loves working at ABC because she believes in the philosophy of care and loves helping others.

Julia Martin-Lombardi

Julia Martin-Lombardi, office manager in our Gig Harbor Location has been with ABC Physical Therapy since 2017. She is an all-around amazing person and no stranger to businesses with hectic schedules. She got her AA from Seattle City College and before she could finish her bachelor’s degree in photography, she was off for Alaska, and Hawaii before settling in the Pacific NW. She and her husband Ken owned and operated Peninsula Computers/HarborNet in Gig Harbor for 20 years, before selling thinking they might retire

She was Executive Director and co-creator of nonprofits CASTINGS and The Hungry Owl Foundation that focused on food, science, education, and food security. She worked with renowned chef Maxime Billet and helped create curriculum for both elementary schools and UW Washington. She has continued her education in food science with courses from Stanford and got her Master Gardeners in Community Gardens.

Julia enjoys working for ABC and loves being in the Gig Harbor location. She tries to bring the small-town personal touch every day to the office while attempting to make all of ABC patients feel like family. In her off time, you can find her in her massive gardens, tending her head of sheep and goats, talking to her chickens or walking her dogs. She also makes mixed metal jewelry in whatever spare time she has left.

Dan Hamby

Dan has helped ABC Physical Therapy develop and implement print and marketing solutions since 2002.

Now Dan has officially joined the staff at ABC PT as our Marketing Representative. Dan Graduated from Washington State University and is a proud Cougar. He is a founding member of South Sound Healthcare Partners, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Puyallup Eagles, and a founding member of the Puget Sound Victory Riders. Dan is a family man that enjoys traveling, the outdoors, riding his motorcycle or playing in the
woods/sand dunes in his side by side.

Vena Foster

Vena has been with ABC since 2016. She is our Patient Care Representative and handles all new patient insurances and authorizations. Vena has her certification in Hospital Administration. She enjoys reading and loves spending time with her Husband, Son, and their dog Kallie. Vena is very passionate about the high level of care that everyone receives at ABC and truly believes that every patient can leave better.

MaryJane Flores

Maryjane has worked for ABC physical therapy as the front desk coordinator since 2018. She loves working for ABC and getting to witness firsthand all the success that the Leveling Technique(R) has. Maryjane has only lived in Washington for a year and is originally from San Diego. In MaryJane’s free time she likes to be outdoors and try new restaurants.
